1.1 Theories and values of positive practice

Person-centered practice is an approach to healthcare that places the person, rather than a condition or diagnosis, at the center of professional services. This philosophy flows from a number of theoretical approaches but is most often associated with psychodynamic theories and client-centered counseling. In the person-centered approach, the therapist’s primary goal is to create a safe and open environment in which the client feels listened to and respected.
