Vocational Scenario or Context
You are a junior energy engineer and your Supervisor has asked to plan for and carry out an energy management audit at your organisation.
As part of this, you need to provide some scene-setting information on legislation and energy conservation techniques. Finally, they want you to provide recommendations for energy savings as a minimum and how they can be set and monitored, as the management of the organisation believe that cost savings are possible and they are acutely aware of their responsibility to reduce their energy consumption.
Task 1
1. Describe the main features of the current legislation, agreements and accords/protocols for energy conservation/management. You must cover the UK Climate Change Act as part of this.
2. Describe four types of energy conservation technique. This must include insulation, waste management, recycling and one other. As part of this you must use appropriate terminology (for example, carbon footprint, energy consumption etc).
3. You are now going to plan for and carry out an energy management audit for a specific organisation and use the results to make recommendations.
