Assignment Brief

Develop a health profile for a community/population living in a specific area of England. You will identify health risks and discuss possible advice and support you, as a nurse, could give them to promote their health and wellbeing. (2500 words plus reference list)

Note: There is a high similarity, but it is owing to the reference list.

Introduction

The introduction covers the aims of the work and the rationale for the chosen subject of obesity in Whitley, Reading. The standard achieved is satisfactory, and the work provides clear evidence that the knowledge, understanding, and skills are at a level appropriate to the level of study. There is evidence showing that all the learning outcomes have been achieved to a satisfactory standard. There is evidence of critical writing, but further expansion is required to elaborate on the facts that have been suggested and to support the evidence.

Learning Outcomes

You need to pass the below 3 learning outcomes to pass this assignment.

LO 1: Critically analyse and evaluate the concept of health and wellness, taking into account the determinants of health, their relevance to health and wellbeing, and the impact of inequalities of health on individuals and populations.

  • Achieved: There is knowledge of the social determinants of health and how these are linked to the area. The factors affecting health in the area have been explored, particularly around obesity.

LO 2: Critically appraise and develop knowledge to systematically assess the health needs of individuals, families, and populations taking into account relevant epidemiological and research evidence.

  • Achieved: There is an understanding of the importance of statistical information for the health of the area. This has been explored and explained in relation to obesity and its causes in the area.

LO 3: Examine the impact of economics and health and social care policies on public health and the provision of healthcare.

  • Not Achieved: There is an understanding of the impact of economics on patients with obesity. However, there are no policies mentioned, and no reference is made to the policy about the watershed on TV. It could have been linked to the sugar tax and expanded to include the 10-year plans. Additionally, the Get Healthy Program was not mentioned. The link to the role of the nurse has been made but requires more depth.

The conclusion covers the aims of the work.
