Assignment Brief
As part of the formal assessment for the programme you are required to submit a People Analytics and Value Creation assignment. Please refer to your Student Handbook for full details of the programme assessment scheme and general information on preparing and submitting assignments.

After completing the module, you should be able to:
- Distinguish how people professionals use data to build, manage and report on their activities.
- Give a critically balanced account of the role of data in the construction of information and knowledge to support decision-making and value creation.
- Translate the relationship between information, information systems, organisational agility and competitive advantage.
- Critically evaluate human resource management organisational information systems capabilities.
- Critically analyse how people practices create value for different stakeholders, and the associated risks.
GA2 Effective Communication.
Students will communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, using a range of media widely used in relevant professional context. They will be IT, digitally and information literate.
All learning outcomes must be met to pass the module.

Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and the exact word count of your submitted document; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in AU Harvard system(s).
You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work.
You must not include your name in your submission because Arden University operates anonymous marking, which means that markers should not be aware of the identity of the student. However, please do not forget to include your STU number.

The word count includes everything in the main body of the assessment (including in text citations and references). The word count excludes numerical data in tables, figures, diagrams, footnotes, reference list and appendices. All other printed words ARE included in the word count.
Students who exceed the wordcount up to a 10% margin will not be penalised. Students should note that no marks will be assigned to work exceeding the specified limit once the maximum assessment size limit has been reached.
Assignment Task
In this assignment you will deliver a podcast with accompanying slides.
For your podcast, you may use Screencast-o-matic https://screencast-o-matic.com/ or PowerPoint recording for your accompanying slides. You will be shown how to create your podcast in class.
Instructions
Please select an organisation of your choice. This may be your own organisation, or one that you are familiar with. (Note: all apprentices must use their own organisation, in which to apply their skills and knowledge in analysing people data, and do not have the option to select another organisation of their choice)
In your podcast you are required to consider people analytics across the employee lifecycle and to determine how data can be used to solve people related issues. Consideration should be given to how complex data can be presented to a variety of stakeholders using a range of different formats.

- Introduction. Set the scene for your podcast, provide an overview of the organisation how people analytics is used there (LO5, GA2).
- In the organisation you have chosen, distinguish how people professionals use data to build, manage and report on their activities. Please provide specific examples. (LO1).
- Critically analyse how the role of data in your selected organisation is used in the construction of information, knowledge and information systems to support decision-making and value creation. Please include examples. (LO2 and LO4).

- Critically analyse how people practices create value for different stakeholders in the organisation. What are the associated risks and how can they be mitigated? (LO5).
- Conclusion. Summarise the main points of your findings. (LO5).
Your podcast should be a maximum of 15 minutes.
Your responses should be presented using PowerPoint slides which must be cited. You may consider adopting the following structure:
- Cover slide.
- Contents slide.
- Introduction slide.
- Response to question 2 (2 slides).
- Response to question 3 (2/3 slides).
- Response to question 4 (2 slides).
- Response to question 5 (2 slides).
- Conclusion slide.
- References slide.
- Final slide (thank you and Q&A).

Formative Feedback
Students will be able to submit 40% of the final word count to the tutor for formative review. Students will select which sections will be reviewed and highlight the text for the tutor.
The feedback is designed to help you develop areas of your work and it helps you develop your skills as an independent learner.
If you are a distance learning student, you should submit your work, by email, to your tutor, no later than 2 weeks before the actual submission deadline. If you are a blended learning student, your tutor will give you a deadline for formative feedback and further details.
Formative feedback will not be given to work submitted after the above date or the date specified by your tutor – if a blended learning student.

- Assignments submitted late will not be accepted and will be marked as a 0% fail.
- Your assessment should be submitted as two separate files; a Screencast podcast and a separate PowerPoint presentation
- If you chose to submit multiple files, you must name each document as the question/part you are answering along with your student number ie Q1 Section A STUXXXX. If you wish to overwrite your submission or one of your submissions, you must ensure that your new submission is named exactly the same as the previous in order for the system to overwrite it.
